Opened in 2009 in Soho, Hix immediately became one of London’s most “in” restaurants.
The owner, Mark Hix, is one of the city’s best known restaurateurs, owner of several eateries among which there are oyster bars, restaurants, champagne bars and brasseries.
The décor and the interior design are immediately striking, bringing to mind the works of artists such as Damien Hirst, Miranda Donovan or Sarah Lucas.
The reason is simple, it was just these artists that Mark Hix went to for his décor complements, which are, actually out and out works of art.
The restaurant, seating around 80 diners, offers menus that are different from day to day, with the possibility of enjoying a meal between 4:30 to 6:30 pm and even after 10:30 at night.
It is no wonder then that Hix is one of the preferred restaurants of the Soho district theatre crowd, who can get a quick snack or dine before or even after perfomances.
The menu includes meat and fish dishes with particular attention paid to oysters and Atlantic crustaceans.
The truly excellent cheese selection comes from selected farms. Desserts are equally fine.
In addition Hix offers several thematic menus dedicated to tasting of various oyster, lobster, pork, beef, mutton, fowl and fish dishes.
The cellar has a selection of wines coming for the most part from France, but also Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Australia with champagne, fortified wines and liquors as well.
