Rome: a magnificent exhibition on Frida Kahlo
“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”
For the first time in Italy, a magnificent exhibition on Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), a symbol of the artistic avant-garde and of the exuberance of Mexican culture in the 20th century, from 20 March - 31 August 2014 curated by Helga Prignitz-Poda at the Scuderie del Quirinale.
Frida Kahlo’s art is fused with the history and spirit of her contemporary world, reflecting the social and cultural transformations that led up to the Mexican Revolution and ensued in its wake.
