From June 27 to July 10 2016 at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world (it has been held since 1877), and is widely considered the most prestigious.
The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, culminating with the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Final, scheduled always for the second Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Wimbledon traditions include a strict dress code for competitors, the eating of strawberries and cream by the spectators, and Royal patronage.
Getting into the Wimbledon Championships usually requires forethought. Seats on Centre and Number One courts are distributed by ballot the preceding year, although enthusiasts who queue on the day may gain entry to the outer courts. You can also turn up later in the day and pay a reasonable rate for seats vacated by spectators who have left early.
