Stunning hotel, superior service, no detail is missed. My husband and I spent the weekend of January 22-23 at the Grand Hotel Baglioni and can't say enough about this hotel. I am a travel agent and my husband was in Italy for business. We wanted to see the opera in Bologna this weekend, so I was looking for the best hotel in Bologna. My standards are high and were met and exceeded at this hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and all speak English. Inernet access is free in your room. The lobby is georgous and the rooms are magnificent. When I took a tour of the property I found that even the smallest of rooms was elegantly decorated. We had cocktails in the bar Friday night before we went to the opera and it was a lovely setting. There were a few busines people enjoying cocktails and a couple that was obviously there for a leisure trip. They served nuts and small sandwiches with our glasses of wine. Nice touch. The linens on the beds were very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. The windows open, which is always a plus for me. Hotel rooms tend to be too warm for me so I am always glad when I can open a window for fresh air (even in the winter). We drove to Bologna from Turin and the doorman parks your car for you. Tourists are not allowed to drive in Bologna, so the hotel reports your license plate to the local police and they make a note that you are staying at the hotel and you will not receive a ticket for driving in Bologna. There is a camera system in the city where the license plates are photographed and sent to the local police, to ensure that only those people who have permits are diving in the narrow streets of this medieval town. When we were preparing to leave the hotel, I asked the concierge if they knew of any place in Modena where we could stop on our way back to Turin to visit a balsamic vinegar maker. They phoned a gentleman in Modena who makes balsamic vinegar and he invited us to his establishment on our way back to Turin on Sunday. That was an amazing experience, and one I am sure we would not have had, if the conceirege at the hotel had not been so knowledgeable and helpful. When we returned home to Detroit a week later, I was reading Travel and Leisure magazine and this hotel was on a list of the best places to stay in the world. It was rated as the best hotel in Europe and I can see why.

Great service and location. Spent 3 nights here at beginning of Jan 2010. The service is absolutely the tops and the staff could not be more helpful. A stunning, romantic room on 4th floor beautifully furnished and balcony (nice in the snow!). We are fussy about hotel quality and this is high quality in our books. Only negative was the restaurant which was very pricey and not as good as we would expect. Eat out in Bologna - its great.

Great service and old world charm. Room was a good size, fixtures a bit old but in excellent condition. Service uniformly excellent -- chambermaids always nearby and asking if we need help, responsive front desk, knowledgeable concierge and desk staff. Breakfast similar to other high end Italian hotels, again with great service. Highly central location.
