The Gucci Museum was opened in Florence to celebrate the brand’s ninetieth anniversary.
Spanning three floors of the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence’s Piazza della Signoria, the Gucci museum permanently exhibits the fashion house archives alongside contemporary art installations selected in collaboration with the prestigious Pinault Foundation.
The permanent exhibition commences on the ground floor, with its large Travel hall and exhibits such as suitcases, trunks, travel items and accessories, icons of Gucci’s international success during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
The museum also boasts an elegant cafe, a bookstore, a gift shop and the Icon Store, which stocks limited edition Icon Collection products including bags, footwear and accessories whose colours and details are exclusive to the Gucci Museum.
The second floor hosts the Contemporary Art Space and a hall where movie art videos and installations are shown.
The permanent exhibition continues on the third floor with Logomania, which traces the history of the Gucci brand, and the Lifestyle and Sport exhibitions, which pay homage to the brand's symbols and iconic products.
