Palazzo Corsini Gardens, Florence

A true oasis of peace amidst the heavily trafficked and noisy Porta al Prato district of Florence, the garden that extends beyond Palazzo Corsini to the Prato will surprise you with its colours and fragrances.

Entering through the gate in Via della Scala, you will discover this enchanted park, where one hundred or so tortoises have been wandering undisturbed for centuries among 180 citrus trees, Holm oaks, Wisteria and three lemon-houses.

The statues that adorn the avenue, set upon pedestals at different heights, create an interesting perspective that further amplifies the view of this magnificent landscape.

Each year, usually around mid-May, the Palazzo Corsini Gardens in Florence host an event dedicated to the old traditional craft shops that sees them recreated to demonstrate the ancient techniques of smiths, silversmiths, jewellery-makers, sculptors, spice merchants, glazers and other master craftsmen selected from throughout Italy.
