Luxury and Elegance. French Porcelain at Court and the Ginori Manufactory
19/03/2013 - 23/06/2013
From 19 March to 26 June at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the Luxury and Elegance. French Porcelain at Court and the Ginori Manufactory will take place, which celebrates the important museum collection at Palazzo Pitti and the work of the Doccia porcelain manufactory from the Napoleonic period to the Bourbon Restoration.
The Napoleonic period offered many new influences to the Tuscan art scene, leading to a renewed interest in art that influenced the Doccia porcelain manufactory that, under the illustrious guidance of Carlo Leopoldo Ginori Lisci, imported many technical and stylistic innovations from France, giving life to a decorative style that remained in fashion even after Ferdinando II of Hapsburg returned to Florence.
The show will exhibit about one hundred and twenty works that come mainly from the Doccia manufactory collections at Palazzo Pitti and the Museo Richard-Ginori as well as other museum and private collections in Italy and abroad.
