Lovely hotel in nice location...good mix of classic and modern style. My husband and I spent 3 nights here during our honeymoon, and the hotel treated us with a few surprises to celebrate. They upgraded our room for free and gave us the only room with a balcony on the top floor. The room was gorgeous; quite spacious considering it is a city hotel, with a nice mix of classic and modern style. The bathroom was spacious (and had speakers to listen to the TV) and it was a pleasure to watch TV shows in English! I definitely recommend this place.

Budget-permitting, an excellent choice. It’s a member of the Baglioni hotel chain. I stayed there in October 2009 and we loved it. Its interior design is an unusual and admirable combination of traditional and modern. The room rate included a generous continental breakfast; cooked dishes were available for an additional charge. The coffee was a bit disappointing. The service was pleasant and accommodating, not flawless, but the lapses were minor to us. When we requested in advance some breakfast prior to our early departure the following morning, they opened the breakfast room 15 minutes earlier than the official time. The bathroom featured nice products and good plumbing and towels. Our beds were very comfortable; room lighting was good. The location is wonderfully convenient, it’s on a quiet street, and yet not more than a 10-minute walk to the Duomo. The Bargello museum is down the street and Casa Buonorroti is two minutes away in the other direction. Although there is not wi-fi in the rooms, nor a business center, wi-fi is available in the large lounge near the reception desk. I didn't have a computer with me and I inquired about borrowing one. They quickly produced a laptop which I took into the lounge and used for an hour, free of charge. If it fits your budget, I highly recommend this hotel.

Admittedly, I was slightly disappointed when I first arrived at the hotel. I was expecting everything to sparkle and glisten with high polish, which it doesn't, but with good reason - the hotel is old world elegance and refinement, not showy spectacle. For me, this hotel was a slow burn - I fell in love with it over the days I was here. The rooms are spacious and very quiet, the service was impeccable. The hotel booked a number of activities, including a biking tour of Tuscany (which was excellent). Nothing was too much trouble and we found the staff friendly, efficient and eager to assist. We hardly saw any other guests during our four night stay, even at breakfast. The breakfast was good - a selection of meats, fruits, pastries, yoghurt, breads and cereals. Positives: it was all good! This was my favourite hotel of the trip.

This hotel, although not centrally in the heart of Florence, is located within walking distance to the main attractions of Florence and excellent restaurants. It has a well-thought out mix of both contemporary touches and the traditional. The older and grander public spaces remain intact, the dining room is charming, and there is both a small bar area and a number of discrete sitting areas sprinkled through. The rooms are updated and with a contemporary flair, and for Florence the rooms appear to be on the larger size. Before we even arrived, communications with the concierge staff were relatively smooth and prompt. Check-in was a snap. The front desk staff was usually (but not always) available to assist. They were helpful in making recommendations, but not always on top of following up on certain requests (such as a car rental). A little more polished service in the front desk area would render this an excellent hotel in my opinion. The breakfast was above average for Italy. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant. There is a three star Michelin restaurant on the lower level of the hotel. It unfortunately was closed when we were staying at the hotel. All said, this is a hotel I would choose to stay at again and I can easily recommend it.

My partner and I enjoyed this hotel immensely. We stayed for a weekend in June and were really overwhelmed by the beauty of the building. Our room was spacious, luxurious and very clean. The staff were really helpful and only a short walk away from everything. Beautiful common areas, that remind you your in Florence. Great value all round!

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. For our honeymoon, we stayed there for 3 nights at the beginning of May, 2009. Because it was a quiet time for the hotel we got a good deal which included breakfast and taxes. Service was very pleasant; room was clean. We especially liked the design of the room. It looked like it was recently renovated. We did not get the best view from our junior suite however one doesn’t come to Florence to see it from the hotel window. The location was perfect. Thumbs up for us !!!

Stayed here in mid-May and loved it. Great room; really good size (expecially the bathroom which was enormous) and a lovely view over rooftops to the facade of the Santa Croce church. Service good, particularly the nice touch of leaving a plate of chocolate coated strawberries on the first night, and the public rooms are beautiful. Only quibble being the usual issue in high end European hotels, of paying a high room charge to start with and then being asked to pay extra for overpriced breakfast and internet access (why a standard 4 star business hotel can provide this stuff for free for half the price is beyond me). But that aside, definitely recommend a stay here.

My family’s stay at the Relais Santa Croce in April, 2009 was simply wonderful. I cannot say enough about this hotel. The pictures on the Internet do not do it justice as they fail to capture the hotel’s sophistication and beauty. Prior to our arrival, the Guest Assistant, Marina Gallo, helped us with room arrangements, airport transfers, and museum passes. She was just as lovely in person as she had been over the phone. The hotel staff could not have been more accommodating. From the doorman to the hotel manager, everyone was professional, helpful, and nice. During the 3 nights we were there, my husband, 11 year old son, and I stayed in one room; our two teenage daughters stayed in another room. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and stylishly decorated. The common areas were elegant--the right mix of old world charm and modern sophistication. The continental breakfast was the perfect way to start the day. We loved the location of the hotel as it was tucked away yet we were able to walk everywhere. It was difficult getting my family to leave at the end of our visit as they all fell in love with Florence and with this beautiful, charming hotel. We hope to return to Florence and will definitely stay at the Relais again.
