With 170 square metres of floor space, the da Verrazzano Royal Suite, also situated on the piano nobile, is even larger than the de Pepi Presidential Suite and merits a visit to the Relais Santa Croce on its own account.
It consists of three rooms. The first is furnished with predominantly dark leather furniture and colourful brocade sofas, which form a pleasant contrast to the pale walls and the elaborate fawn, ash and gold designs of the frescoes. A long wooden table sits opposite the white marble fireplace, in front of the three windows which give onto the internal courtyard of the palace.
As you enter the second room your eye is immediately drawn to the particularly fine panelled Florentine ceiling, decorated with stuccoes and trefoils. There is also a guest lavatory in this room. The bedroom is the last of the three rooms and looks out onto Via Ghibellina.
It is decorated not only with frescoes, antique furniture and objets d’art but also contains a skilfully concealed small gym and the main bathroom, which has a large shower, a hydro massage bath for two, sauna and plasma television. Strategically placed gaps in the ceiling of the bathroom allow the bedroom frescoes to be seen from the hydro massage bath.
