Punta Ala Yacht Club
Founded in 1976, the Punta Ala Yacht Club is one of Italy’s most important sailing associations.
By virtue of its reputation and the demonstrated efficiency of its services and the Punta Ala Marina facilities, the operational headquarters for the historic participation of Luna Rossa in the 1999-2000 and 2002-2003 editions of the America's Cup, was set up here.
In addition to the America's Cup, Punta Ala Yacht Club has organised a number of other sailing events over the past 30 years, including the Assoluti Vela di Altura Championships, the Star, Soling, Mumm36, Melges 24 Class World Championships, the IOR initially and later the IMS Class European Championships, the J22 Class Championships, Mumm3O and the Class TP52 regattas.
The Yacht Club’s jewel in the crown is the Sailing School, regarded as one of the most prestigious in Italy, where summer and winter courses are held under the guidance of expert instructors.
