The Cannes Film Festival is a world-scale event and is the most glamorous film festival in the world.
Each year the biggest stars in show-business tread the red carpet on the famous runway of Montée des Marches that leads to the screening room.
The 2012 edition is dedicated to the memory of Marilyn Monroe, who will be the focus of many side-events and retrospectives.
Alongside the official selection, which has two sections, Competition and Un Certain Regard, the core features of the festival, is the Cannes Classic section, dedicated to the remastered versions of timeless flics that have made movie history, the International Week of Film Critics, which scouts for new talents in the industry, the Quinzaine de Réalisateurs, which focuses chiefly on directors, and the Short Film Corner.
The Lessons, which consist in meetings between the audience and great film directors, actors, and composers since 1991, are particularly interesting.
