La Cure Gourmande
On rue Grande within the city walls of St Paul de Vence is La Cure Gourmande, a small chain of "confiseries" (confectioner's shops) that serve products of the finest quality.
Biscuits, candy and sweets, fresh pastries, croissants, jam and preserves, chocolates, and all kinds of sweets, displayed in the shop's counter in the style of food shops typical of the 1800's.
On the shelves that reach all the way up to the ceiling there are countless tin cans and wooden jars that are the exact replica of the confections used long ago for candy and biscuits, while the large baskets in the middle of the shop are full of chocoloates, sugared almonds, and candy.
If you visit the shop, you have to try the Provencal calissons, tender sweets made of glazed almond pastry, the fabulous chocolate olives, and the fresh pastries of the day.
The shop owners have carefully cared for every detail, from the candy list to the most precious case, to allow comers to savor the ancient taste of traditional confectionery production.
