White Cube Gallery, London

One of the most highly acclaimed independent art galleries in London, White Cube is owned by art collector and dealer, Jay Jopling.

The original White Cube Gallery was a small square, white-painted room in Duke Street: here artists could better present their works without contamination from the surroundings.

The first solo exhibitions of individual artists in the Young British Artists movement were held here, with the rule that each artist could only exhibit his works once in this venue.

The original building, which had grown too small to cope with the number of events proposed, was abandoned in 2000 to open a new gallery in Hoxton Square with an exhibition area of around 185 square metres.

White Cube Mason's Yard was opened in 2006 with an exhibition space of around 500 square metres.

Exhibitions are alternated on a monthly basis, thus ensuring visitors have a unique, one-off experience.
