Head of the River Race

23/03/2013 - 23/03/2013

On 23 March, the Head of the River Race will take place in London, a large international rowing competition on the Thames that has occurred annually since 1927.

More than four hundred teams participate with canoes with eight rowers (known as eights). Teams from all over the UK as well as other countries must be all male and members of the same club, society or federation.

The race goes from Mortlake to Putney and runs almost seven kilometers.

Each year, thousands of fans line the banks of the Thames to watch this fun event, considered a harbinger of spring by Londoners.
