Shakespeare: Staging the World
19/07/2012 - 25/11/2012
From July 19 to November 25 the British Museum of London presents "Shakespeare: Staging the World", which casts an unprecedented and original glance on the role and literary work of William Shakespeare.
London emerges from the innovative perspective of Shakespearian comedy and tragedy as a city at the center of the world, and throughout the dialogue authored by the great playwright one can discern how the society of the British capital of 400 years ago evolved to gradually open up to trade, colonialism and diplomatic and intercultural relations.
The exhibition displays a broad variety of objects and artifacts common to the life of William Shakespeare, as well as other everyday ones, documents, clothing, and artistic objects that are a witness to the tastes and trends of London in the 1600's.
