The 2012 Olympics

27/07/2012 - 12/08/2012

From July 27 to August 8, 2012 London will be the sports capital of the world, hosting the Summer Olympic Games for the third time, after the editions of 1908 and 1948.

A huge sports complex has been purposely built for this grand occasion, the Olympic and Paralympic Village, with its 33 welcoming facilities and a vast number of sports facilities.

Competitions will also be held outside of the village, as for instance in the River Zone along the Thames, the Central Zone in the heart of London, the O2 Arena, the Greenwich Arena, Wembley Stadium, Hyde Park, and in other areas and facilities in the city.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch the sailing competitions from the Dorset’s wonderful coasts.

The already highly efficient network of public transportation in London has been further boosted and refurbished, while the Olympic Javelin will be in service over the course of the Olympic Games, a high-speed shuttle train that directly links the King Cross and Ebbs Fleet stations to the Olympic park.
