Fortnum & Mason Emporium, London
Founded in 1707, Fortnum & Mason is the old emporium supplier of the English Royal Palace. It is located in Mayfair, in the very heart of London.
The company began to prosper during the United Kingdom’s colonial expansion, hand in hand with the spice and tea trade.
In 1851, Fortnum & Mason won first prize as best importers in the Great Exhibition of Hyde Park and in 1862 it was appointed official supplier to the royal family.
The historic Piccadilly Street building has seven floors, where any type of food product can be found.
The best varieties of tea are a favourite item, as is coffee, which is offered in exclusive blends.
There is also a wide selection of biscuits, sweets, chocolates, toffees and confectionery, jams and preserves, oil, sauces and mustards and the best wines and liqueurs from around the world.
Fortnum & Mason is famous for its selection of pâtés, caviar, English and European cheese and for the its excellent smoked salmon.
There is also a Cookshop, which stocks a variety of cookbooks and recipe books, tea pots and tea sets as well as kitchen accessories.
