Branca Collection, Milan

The Branca Collection, inaugurated in June 2009 near the historic plant in Via Resegone, Milan, offers the public a true sensory experience, brimming with herbal fragrances and mysterious spices, as well as the historical documentation of a production system with strong links to the territory and the endeavours of a historical Italian brand in the communications and social commitment fields.

The visitor itinerary covers more than 1000 square metres of space where visitors can observe ancient stills and mortars used by company apothecaries, the ancient herbalist’s shop, the chemistry laboratory, the old offices, and bottling areas.

The walls are arrayed with historic calendars, diplomas and certificates, as well as famous Art Nouveau posters created by true icons of graphic design such as Metlicovitz, Cappiello, Jean d'Ylen, Codognato, and Mauzan.

Next comes a collection of vintage bottles, including a number of imitations of original Branca products, a valuable photographic collection and original sketches and videos of advertising campaigns and of 1960s and 70s Carousels, by Max Squillace and Fusako Yusaki, in stop-motion.

The tour concludes with immersion in the Branca Distillery production process: a large lift delivers visitors to the heart of the immense underground cellar that extends under some of the city’s busiest streets.

The Collection is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, by reservation only. Guided tours are available in Italian and English (on request) at 10am and 3pm. Each tour takes around one and a half hours.

Admission is free.
