Luini Bakery, Milan

Founded in 1949, Panificio Luini is famous throughout Milan for its unparalleled panzerotti (large fried ravioli with various fillings).

Its founder, Giuseppina Luini, having moved from Apulia with her family, set up the bakery here in these very premises, supplying bread to the leading restaurants and hotels in central Milan.

Over time, however, she decided to offer the residents of Milan the typical recipes of her native Apulia.

Ever since, generations of Milanese have tried her panzerotti, and the secret recipe was first handed down to her first son Luigi and then to grand-daughters Emanuela and Cristina, who currently run the historic business.

Other Panificio Luini specialities include traditional Apulian focaccia with cherry tomatoes and sweet panzerotti filled with dried figs, walnuts and cocoa.
