The Quintili Villa, Rome
After a long period of excavations and safety works, the Parco dell'Appia Antica in Rome has been enriched by a new masterpiece; the Quintili Villa.
In fact, it is finally possible to visit its secret rooms, rich in archaeological treasures never exhibited to the wider public, where it is possible to admire the Turquoise walls, the slate and marble floors and the refined mosaics.
The Quintili Villa, built in 151 AC, covers a surface of 23 hectares on a hillock originating from the lava flows of the ancient Latium volcano, delimited by the Fosso dello Statuario (The statuary ditch) which formed over the centuries due to erosion.
The archaeological area also hosts a little Antiquarium where the most important archaeological findings are displayed.
