Guttuso. 1912 -2012

05/10/2012 - 03/02/2013

From October 5 2012 to February 3 2013, the Vittoriano Museum Complex of Rome hosts Guttuso. 1912 -2012, an important compendium-exhibition dedicated to Renato Guttuso.

One hundred paintings have been chosen to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the artist's birth, a collection that spans the entire artistic parable of the Sicilian master, emphasizing the intimate relations that Guttuso entertained with other artists and cultural personalities of his time.

The novelist Alberto Moravia, sculptors like Giacomo Manzù and Henry Moore, poets of the caliber of Pier Paolo Pasolini and Pablo Neruda, and film directors such as Luchino Visconti, are a handful of those artists with whom Guttuso worked heavily, illustrating books and designing sets, yes, but also sparking artistic liaisons and trends of thought.

The exhibition, in fact, has three main sections that showcase the artist's paintings, his drawings, and musical theater.
