For the first time in Italy, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, the collections from the Städel Museum of Frankfurt will be offered, at the exhibition, Impressionism, Expressionism, Avant-garde.

The 100 works shown, chosen out of the portion of the German collection from the 1800-1900s, offers an overview of European art history that ranges from the Nazarine movement to the Romantic period as well as Realism, Impressionism, Symbolism and Avant Garde.

In the seven galleries beside the Rotunda of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni equally as many stylistic-chronological views have been allocated, containing among others masterpieces by: Tischbein, Koch, Corot, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Böcklin, Feuerbach, up to Moreau, Redon, Hodler, Munch, Beckmann, Ernst, Klee and Picasso.

The exhibit starts with German Classicism from the early 1800s to then move on to French Impressionism, Symbolism and German Expressionism.

An entire section is dedicated to the work of Max Beckmann, to conclude with the Experimentalism of artists such as Max Ernst, Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso.
