Moriondo & Gariglio Confectionery, Rome
Cousins Moriondo and Gariglio, owners of the Turin chocolate shop with the same name since 1850 and suppliers to the Royal Family of Savoy, transferred here in 1870 to follow the sovereigns to Rome when the city became the new capital of the Kingdom of Italy.
The shop in Via Pie' del Marmo is now managed by Piera Minelli, who proudly continues the tradition that has been handed down for more than a hundred years.
Every product is hand-made: filled chocolates and sugared almonds, pralines, nougat and even almond paste preparations, fruit jellies and memorable marrons glacés.
Gift packages in wonderful red linen boxes are also available.
