Dalla moda allo schermo
01/09/2012 - 06/01/2013
From September 1 2012 to January 5 2013, the Palace Mocenigo in Venice hosts the exhibition Dalla moda allo schermo. Donne a Venezia, Moda a Venezia.
Thanks to set of stands with a high visual impact, collector's dresses and documents (photographs, sketches, video-interviews of actors and costume designers scheduled precisely for the event, and not to mention, period films), this exhibition offers the opportunity to interact with a remarkably unique productive and cultural reality: the dresses worn by actresses and actors throughout the history of film.
We have Silvana Mangano, pensive and aloof, wrapped in the linen drapings of Death in Venice , or in the explosive shorts of Mambo; we have Donald Sutherland and the mechanical doll of Casanova, symbols of an 18th century that is not just synonymous with transgression, but a quest to transcend time, for something epic, which continues to influence fashion nowadays.
And then there is Angelina Jolie, seductress decked in satin for The Tourist, Katherine Hepburn in Summertime, for a perfect finish with the magic of the dresses paraded on the red carpet, the woman turns actress and basks before the admiring eyes of the audience.
A new and careful glance at the strong bond that has always linked Fashion to Cinema.
