Gelateria Alaska, Venice

This tiny ice-cream shop in Calle Larga dei Bari very quickly became the most famous in Venice.

All thanks to master ice-cream maker Carlo Pistacchi and his creativity and curiosity, which inspired him to experiment with unusual flavours and combinations such as tomato and basil, orange and rocket, star anise, green tea, rose and even red onion and artichoke.

All flavours that do not include milk or eggs among their ingredients are prepared separately from the vanilla flavours.

This seemingly minor detail makes many of Alaska’s ice-creams suitable for vegans or those intolerant to dairy and animal products.

The granite (crushed ice drinks) are a must.
