Pec, Venice snack shop
Venice is the home of the tramezzino (sandwiches) and everyone has their own opinion as to which are the best in the city.
Pec stands out for its freshness and originality and for the names and combination of ingredients in its tramezzini.
Pec is a tiny bar overlooking the Rialto fishmonger's shop. It has three outside tables and inside there are just a couple of stools and space for 6-7 people standing.
Behind the counter, Enzo and Pietro prepare their incredible tramezzini. You won’t find the classic labels for “Tuna and Onions” or “Tomato and Mozzarella” here, but rather a series of improbable names and dialectical sayings that correspond to bizarre combinations, such as Tuna and wasabi, Prawn and Roast Pork, Prawn and Artichoke and many more.
One word of advice: after 2pm it is practically impossible to find anything left to eat, as everything literally sells like hotcakes over lunch.
