Do Forni Restaurant, Venice
Originally a bakery for the convent of San Zaccaria during the Republic of Venice, it later became a tavern and then a restaurant.
Since 1973 it has been managed by Eligio Paties who, with his passion for fine foods and tradition, is able to successfully transmit all the warmth of Venetian hospitality to his guests.
There are two dining rooms to choose from: the first is decorated in a rustic elegant style, typical of old Venetian restaurants. The second evokes the Orient Express and reproduces the atmosphere of the restaurant car of the famous train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris in its furniture and accessories.
The strictly seafood menu includes dishes such as Capesante Casanova (Scallops with Porcini mushrooms), Medaglioni di aragosta (Lobster medallions), Spuma di baccalà mantecato (Creamy salt-cod mousse), Risotto Tiziano (Risotto with prawns and Champagne), as well as Iranian caviar and Belon oysters.
There are also delicious meat dishes and vegetables dishes prepared using local produce, such as the famous Sant'Erasmo artichokes.
The wine-list presents a choice of carefully selected bottles from Italian regions and French wines and Champagnes, as well as an excellent selection of international wines, primarily imported from California, Chile, South Africa and Australia.
