Vecio Fritolin Restaurant
This historic Venetian restaurant is a stalwart of long-standing tradition: the name itself, “Vecio Fritolin” evokes places where freshly-fried fish could be bought, wrapped in paper and eaten while strolling along since as far back as the eighteenth century.
The restaurant is located in Calle della Regina, behind the Rialto Market, in a historic sixteenth century Venetian palace.
In addition to deep-fried fish, owners Irina Freguia and Vladimiro Salvan and chef Daniele Zennaro, serve creative and original dishes that maintain their traditional roots, such as Carpaccio di branzino agli agrumi (Sea bass carpaccio with citrus fruits), Spaghetti di barbabietola con cappe margarote (Beet spaghetti with cockles), Spiedino di capesante e bacon con cavolo nero e salsa corallo (Scallop and bacon skewers with black cabbage and coral sauce) or Cefalo al thé nero con vellutata di sedano rapa alla vaniglia di Tahiti (Grey mullet in black tea with celeriac cream and Tahitian vanilla).
Desserts include Parfait al caramello (Caramel Parfait), Bavarese al cardamomo con salsa all'arancia (Bavarian cream with cardamom and orange sauce) or Panettone classico con spuma di castagne e kumquat (Classic panettone with chestnut and kumquat mousse).
However the menu is constantly updated and new dishes are added every day.
