Pauly & C. - Compagnia Venezia Murano
An historic glassworks in Murano (Venice), Pauly & Co. - Compagnia Venezia Murano, continues to epitomise the artistic, aesthetic and commercial spirit of ancient Venetian glass workers to this every day.
The company dates back to 1866, when a group of British business men and intellectuals decided to invest their capital in recovering traditional glass working methods and in training master glass workers.
At the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1898, Compagnia Venezia Murano presented a reproduction of the ancient “murrina” technique, which has since become the symbol of Murano glass.
Many of the objects created by Pauly & C. - Compagnia Venezia Murano over the years are now exhibited in the world’s most famous museums, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Corning Museum in New York, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and, naturally, the Murano Glass Museum.
