Paul Fuchs’ Garden of Sounds
The private residence of Paul Fuchs, an eccentric Bavarian sculptor who settled in a remote part of Maremma some time ago is located in Massa Marittima, in the village of Boccheggiano.
On parking just outside the woods that surround the sculptor’s farmhouse, continue for around 700 metres along a circular path. Here you will observe, totally immersed in nature, the large iron, copper and bronze mobile sculptures that may appear thin and frail, but are in fact the result of complex mathematical studies.
The Garden of Sounds is the name of a group of works created by Paul Fuchs in 1981, works with an unusual trait: they emit sounds depending on the direction and intensity of the wind. The complex later took on the same name.
The visit is free of charge, but is strictly by appointment only. Appointments can be made by contacting the artist directly.
