The city of Florence inaugurated its Museo del Novecento, dedicated to Italian art of the 20th century.

Divided into 15 exhibition areas, the new Florentine museum houses a collection of about 300 works, presented in reverse chronological order, starting from 1990 and proceeding backward to the early years of the century.

Located inside the former Leopoldine hospital and convent in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the museum features works by Giorgio De Chirico, Giorgio Morandi, Emilio Vedova and Renato Guttuso among others. Along the way, the museum’s multimedia format showcases documents, vintage photographs, television interviews, magazines and literary texts, video documentaries, and sound stations.
