Carnival all year round

The legendary Carnival springs from the Serenissima’s desire for an event where people of every class, from humble to high, had a chance to enjoy themselves with dancing and music. The anonymity of the masks and costumes turned the social hierarchies on their head.

The tradition was maintained each year to enable the trade in costumes and masks, made by a nascent professional group, the mascareri.

Pearls, feathers and colourful fabrics were and remain defining traits of the typical Venetian garb. And you can select and wear a costume for yourself in this unique experience, guided by our expert artisan, while a professional photographer immortalises the moment out and about amid the Venetian calli. The craftspeople from Atelier La Bauta make their masks and costumes by hand, following the Venetian tradition.

It’s a journey through time back to Venice of the past, where you can experience the special feeling of being right there at the most elegant carnival in the world.

The experience includes:

• a wide selection of typical Venetian costumes and the services of a dresser;
• a professional photo shoot;
• a walk to explore some of Venice’s hidden highlights, from Campo San Rocco and Ponte Ca’ Foscari to Campo Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari.
