An italian adventure

Rich with anecdotes and curiosities, the story of the birth of Baglioni Hotels is linked to the history of a journey in Italian style, through its culture and traditions. Baglioni Hotels was founded in 1974, when Roberto Polito and his wife Lisa established the Baglioni Resort Cala del Porto in Punta Ala, Tuscany, to develop a unique concept of Italian excellence and hospitality, intended as a life experience.

Roberto Polito, founder and president of the company, was sent to the Tuscan coast in the ‘70s to develop the project of a large resort on behalf of a Swiss company. It was love at first sight for that still unknown part of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Together with Carlo Ponti, film producer and husband of Sophia Loren, they decided to purchase the Pineta di Roccamare area near Castiglioncello.

Baglioni Hotels since 1974

When the company was dissolved, Roberto understood that his future would move in that direction due to his great love for Hotellerie. In 1974 the Baglioni Resort of Punta Ala was born. This is where Roberto married Lisa, and where their son Guido — now CEO of Baglioni Hotels — spent his childhood.

The unforgettable italian touch

The Baglioni Hotels are elegant and sophisticated with an intimate, homely atmosphere. The people who work in them are passionate about every single gesture. Everything is designed to give unforgettable memories, in which the customer is the protagonist of an authentic, personal, Italian story. Over the years, the property has developed a concept of luxury that in its daily management has translated into a “tailor-made” service, making guests feel at ease, understanding their needs throughout the stay, according on to their culture of origin and their desires or aspirations. The collection now includes 7 exclusive hotels, located in the heart of the main European art cities, and 2 Resorts.

Four hotels are in Italy: in Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome. Two in France, in Aix-en-Provence and Saint Paul de Vence, and one is in Great Britain, in the heart of London. The Collection is completed by the historic Baglioni Resort Cala del Porto in Punta Ala and the latest pearl acquired, the Baglioni Resort Maldives, an exclusive resort composed of 96 villas that will stand on the island of Maagau.
