Relais Santa Croce

Alle Murate

Located inside of the fourteenth century Palazzo delle Arti dei Giudici e Notai, [Palazzo of the Judge's and Notary's Arts] in the heart of the Historical Centre of Florence, the restaurant Alle Murate epitomises the the best of Florentine excellence.

Indeed, the first and oldest existing frescos depicting DantePetrarch and Boccaccio may be appreciated from inside of the restaurant

The cuisine, under the direction of Giovanna Iorio, who prefers to be called Cook instead of Chef, infused by regional Italian traditions, in particular from Tuscany and Basilicata, is founded on the meticulous selection of the finest raw materials.

Ancient recipes here are at times reproduced and at times reinterpreted. Some of the dishes are: Duck liver foie gras, egg with anchovy sauce, Barley and Borlotti bean Soup with grilled Pienza pecorino cheese, Tortelli filled with Leeks and black cabbage sauce and a sausage ragù, Baked Grouper fillet on red beets, Savoy cabbage stewed with raisins and pine niuts and crisp beet chips, or Breaded veal cutlet with Pantelleria caper sauce.

Besides the A’ la carte menu there are two other tasting menus, one of which is wholly dedicated to Tuscan cuisine.

The cellar offerings are constantly updated with the finest Italian labels, with special attention for the smaller lesser-known vineyards. Whilst some of the most prized French vintages are available as well.
